Isn't he so adorable?!?
The temperature reached 60 today and we took off after lunch and went over to the park.
Trying to photograph through the bars was a little difficult, the reason why the little lamb is not in focus, but he is so cute, so who cares :)

My Target clearance finds.  Gotta love a good deal!  The white bath cabinet, which I had been eyeing for a while, was marked down to $11.98.  Yippee!  Now I just need to decide which bathroom needs it most!

Today's post is about one of Aly's favorite school subjects.  Vocabulary.  I had no idea when I bought this dilapidated copy of Vocabulary Cartoons just how much it was going to fit Aly's learning style.  Each week there are ten new vocabulary words.  Each word has a definition, another word that it "sounds like," and a funny cartoon using the vocabulary word and the "sounds like" word.  It also shows the vocabulary word in three different sentences.  Aly is having almost 100% retention!  She loves it.  Aly has to write her own sentence for each vocabulary word.  A few of her sentences are what prompted me to take a picture. They made Skyeler and I laugh out loud, vocabulary words are in bold...

When Amelia goes to the bathroom the smell wafts into the hallway.
(in case you don't know, Amelia is the cat)

Evrything goes awry when mom is upset.

It perturbs me when I can't do evrything right away.

I guess we need to work on the spelling of "everything"  :)

More fort building, though I believe this time Aly said it was a Station Wagon.  :)  She is reading the American Girl books about Julie.  Julie is the 70's "historical" doll and that's where Aly got the Station Wagon idea.  There is a cat in her Station Wagon :)

It was after church Wednesday evening and I realized I hadn't taken my picture of the day.  Lucky for me, Aly had what was left of this lovely pillow/blanket mess on the couch for me to photograph.  Earlier in the day it was a fort.  My girls have always had a penchant for fort building...go figure!

Skyler, Aly, Brianna, Noelle, and Nina and their AG dolls.
Aly had an American Girl playdate with her friends today.  Oh. My. Word. What a bunch of doll stuff was in my living room!  They had a great time and everyone went home with what they came with.  That was truly amazing :)

Cheating again!  I had to include two pictures for today.  Skating at the ice rink with the girls (Skye, Aly, Tori, Elizabeth, and Jen).  I can still ice skate.  Pretty cool for someone who's going to be 40 this year :)

Shakespeare was today at Robin's.  I captured a couple pictures for the blog I'm trying to get going for their study.  I love this one though.  You see, Shakespeare is responsible for over 1,700 words of our English language.  He just made them up (or put them together in a new way) and we still use them today.  Our activity for today...make up words like Shakespeare.  Five teenagers making up words and having way too much fun!!

I'm a conformer.
Our friends have been walking around with these straw cups for months.  Skyeler and Aly got cute cat ones for Christmas.  I decided I wanted one, too.  I wanted a cute one.  There were plenty before Christmas but not a cute one to be found after Christmas!  Bummer!  So I bought my favorite color.  Surprisingly, it really is easier to drink my water like this.

My pillow.
My mother-in-law bought me these adorable flannel sheets last year for Christmas.  I was so tired ALL day today and all I could think about was getting my head back on that cozy, comfy, soft, lovely pillow!

I've made another mess.  I seem to be doing that a lot lately.  I hope that all these big messes clean up to a more clean and organized house ... eventually :)  I want to start scrapbooking once a week with my friends.  In order to be productive, I need to be organized.  And as you can see, I am not.  Now, technically, this was supposed to be my Saturday project, but between errands and painting and a trip to Lowes.  It didn't happen.  Now it's my mid-week project.  Hopefully.

Skyeler finished sewing her cape so we took pictures.  I liked that this one
showed its two colors and the hood.  I'm very proud of her.

Aly and Julie, her brand spanking new American Girl doll
Aly still had a good chunk of money left after Christmas.  She surprised us all by wanting to get an American Girl doll.  After making her wait over a week to think about it (it is a lot of money), we started looking on ebay.  Well, it turns out that ebay wasn't much of a deal.  After some more consideration, she chose to buy a brand new doll.  Julie came today and Aly is just so thrilled with her.  Now both of my children have spent all their money on one big ticket item (Skyeler bought the Kindle Fire with her money).  Now both of my children are broke lol :)

My kitchen counter was becoming overrun with medicine and vitamin bottles.  I bought this cute little basket to store them all in.  It makes me happy.  :)

I'm cheating today :)  It was co-op and I really couldn't make a choice.  Seeing as how this is my 365 project, I can do it anyway I want!

Aly and her winter cardinal art project.  Love it!!

The Burrow

I was trying to find an interesting subject to photograph and my eyes came to rest on Aly's Lego Creations.  I would have liked to have gotten a picture of the whole table, however, I had the wrong lens on the camera and it came out blurry.  You can see Hedwig in the upper room, the Weasley's sitting down to dinner, and a cameo by Bellatrix LeStrange.

One day into the project and life happened!
This picture is really from January 3rd.
I forgot to take a picture on the 2nd.  Why, you might ask, did I forget?
Three words...Shakespeare, budget, and bills!
I spent the 2nd with my laptop (making a syllabus for Henry V)
and my checkbook (paying bills and preparing the budget).

A Year in Pictures

I have been challenged this year by my good friend Robin, to join in Project 365.  What, you might ask, is Project 365?  Taking a picture a day to document the year!  A project for the scrapbooker in me.  A project for the photographer in me. My friend knows I love both.  I begin the project with the best of intentions.  I'm sure life will get in the way at some point.  Claire says in Letters to Juliet, "Life is the messy bits."  I'm sure there will be many of those along the way.  I endeavor to photograph the "messy bits" as well as the beautiful bits.
