April 30th

Skyeler and Rory the day after the Senior Trip.
She was wore out, but had a great time!
She was, however, happy to be back with her kitties and her own bed :)

I don't have a better picture of the group because I took a video with my camera instead.

I have a lot of grading to do.

Skyeler leaves for her Senior Trip tomorrow.
This is her pile of snacks that we bought, along with some of the other necessities.
She is really nervous, but I think she will have a great time once she gets going.
Happy Packing!

I think they did a great job!

Aly's One-Point Perspective drawing.

Today was co-op day.  In art class the kids finished up their One-Point Perspective drawings.  This art lesson was a huge hit.  It ended up being an easy concept to grasp, and a few of the girls were reproducing it on their own.  (I love it when they do that!)  I was more than pleased with all their results.  I love it when a lesson goes as planned!

Bags of Books.
Today was the last day of the library's semi-annual book sale.
I *heart* bags of books.
Especially when each bag of lovely reading material only cost me $1.
I *heart* bags of books for $1.
The green bag is Skyeler's.  The blue bag is Aly's. The flower bag is mine.
I *heart* that my kids inherited my love of books.
I think we might need more bookshelves.

Dan and Aly before the race

Aly has been wanting to run a 5K for a while.  However, training time has been sporadic.  Today was the annual 5K and parade in our church community.  The church has participated in the parade for a couple years, and a few people have even run the 5K.  Dan has before.  This year Dan, Aly, Sharon, Doug, Lewis, Michelle, Priscilla, and Lorin ran.  (I am NO runner).  Dan wasn't racing for time because he was still recovering from the Boston.  He ran the race with Aly.  She was SO excited to do this.

And they are off...Dan, Aly, Priscilla and you can see a little bit of Michelle and Lorin.  Doug, Sharon, and Lewis were right behind them.  I should take this opportunity to point out that Skyeler and Victoria walked the 5K.  They started in the back.

Aly crossing the finish line by the timer.  That's 33 minutes and 52 seconds.  She ran the whole way!  No stops for walking or anything.  We were so proud of her.  After he crossed the finish line, Dan went back and ran with each of our friends as they crossed the line.  Lorin and Sharon and I think Lewis had already finished by this time.  I should take this opportunity to mention that Skyeler came in dead last.  She did walk the whole thing with Tori but walk might be too strong of a word.  Amble may be better LOL!

Another day missed.
I'm wondering, looking at my calendar, if this is the beginning of the end of the Picture a Day idea.  I can't believe how crazy life is between now and the end of June.  I guess we will see.

My Lily of the Valley is blooming.
For someone with absolutely, positively NO green thumb,
I sure am excited about my blooming flowers and plants this year.
I think there is a reason green is my favorite color...spring and summer are full of it.

Too tired to take a picture I guess ;)

2012 Boston Marathon Day!

I was panicking when I saw how many people were watching the Marathon.  Four rows deep!  I didn't think we would get close enough to see Dan and give him a hug!  God is good, though, and we were able to get up in the front row and hug his neck at mile 26!  Skyeler and I both got pictures of him running towards us.  Then we got pictures of him after he finished.

Later that afternoon, we walked back down to the Boston Gardens and Boston Commons.  Aly wanted to see the Make Way for Ducklings statues in the Gardens.

Boston is the coolest city...and I don't like big cities!
Again, I couldn't choose just one picture.

First we went to the Boston Marathon Expo.  Dan picked up his bib number, and then we looked around at all the cool running stuff.  It was ridiculously loud and crowded!

Afterwards, we went to see the U.S.S. Constitution.  What a great piece of history!

Later that evening we went for a walk to see where the finish line was (so the girls and I could find it in the morning).  We ended up walking down to the Boston Gardens.  Aly was so excited to see the swan boats from Make Way for Ducklings.  Unfortunately, they were not opened up for the season.  It made a beautiful picture, though.

We arrived in Boston today!
Wow!
It was really hard to pick just one picture for today.

Our first stop was at the American Girl Store - Boston.  Aly and Julie had a great time shopping and a hard time deciding what to buy :)  Dan was so patient.

Second stop, our hotel. Thank you Mom!  The first is a picture of our hotel in downtown Boston (it's the tall skinny one).  The second is the view from our hotel room.

Niagara Falls
When we told the girls we were going to Boston for the Marathon, Aly asked to go to the American Girl Store and Skyeler asked to go to Niagara Falls.  We told Skye that it was too far out of the way to the Falls.  It was a great surprise, then, when we took a detour on our way and stopped to see them.  It was the first time seeing them for me and the girls.  It was beautiful.  And Skyeler was very happy with the surprise!

Ok, so I didn't really take this picture of Dan and Aly today.  It was taken a couple of days ago.  However, I fell behind (again), and I had two good pictures from the 6th.  Aly is practicing for a 5K that is coming up in a couple weeks.  Dan is helping her train.  It was a great picture of them running together!

Happy Easter!
We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise this morning during our Easter Sunrise Service.  It only peeked through for a few moments.  I grumble and groan and complain about getting up so early, but it was worth it.

Cheryl and I had hoped to scrapbook when she visited for Spring Break.  In fact, I had high hopes of working on Skyeler's Senior Album.  Cheryl and I got nothing accomplished.  I don't even think we broke out the supplies.  Skyeler, on the other hand, worked on her own Senior Album and got quite a bit accomplished.  She laughed at us :)

We had errands to run today.  Aly and Skyeler were enjoying the sunshine and warmer spring weather while waiting for me to get ready to go.  Of course they had to wait longer while I took this picture :)

The Weird Sisters, Puck, and Horatio (plus Aly & Priscilla) helped out Shirley today by weeding the flower beds around the church.  Our Easter Sunrise Service is fast approaching and Shirley was unable to do the weeding after her recent surgery.  The kids were glad to help out.  We took care of the weeding and then had our Shakespeare meeting at the church.

I can't count how many times I missed a picture this month.  Between Graduation plans, the Regency Ball, co-op, photo shoots, and just plain life, I was barely keeping my head up, let alone remembering to take a picture every day.  I hope April proves an easier month.

There were over 400 pictures of the Regency Ball.  Skyeler has already posted some on her blog.  So for my picture of the day I chose a different one.  Skyeler was totally oblivious to the fact that I was taking a picture of Lorin and Jack.  I thought it a cool picture.

March has been a tough month.  There is so much to do and so much to remember that I keep forgetting to take pictures.  Like today.  Again.  So here are a couple more funny pics from picture day at co-op (yesterday).

We really have no idea what the heck Skyeler is doing...but it's hilarious!

Here the senior girls were trying to get a picture jumping.  Well, there are lots of pictures where we are trying to get them jumping.  Unfortunately, Tori jumped first...every time...and Skyeler jumped last...every time.  We had one shot out of like 25 where they are all in the air and then Jen had her hand over Elizabeth's face (like in this picture).  Skyeler had to do a little Photoshop work there.  In this picture, you can see that Skye is still in the air while the others have already landed.  She thinks she's special :)

Today was picture day at co-op.  We found some really cool trains to take pictures on.  When we planned picture day in March, we told the kids that if it was too cold then we would still take pictures.  Ha!  It was in the upper 80's :)   It was HOT!  I was so pleased with the pictures, though.  It was a fun time.  This is Skyeler and Aly being silly.
